1. Overview

Sambalo is designed to be private by default. You can use core features fully offline without creating an account. This Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.

2. Data you create in offline mode

When you use Sambalo in offline mode, your data is stored on your device. We do not automatically upload your offline content to our servers.

Examples: tasks, shopping lists, notes, journal entries, and local attachments.
You decide if and when to enable cloud features, shared groups, or backup export.

3. Data we process when cloud sync is enabled

If you enable premium sync or group collaboration, we process limited account and service data required to operate those features.

Authentication identifiers (for example Google or Apple account ID/token).
Group and membership metadata (invite/join/approval state).
Subscription status and entitlement metadata.
Encrypted or protected sync payloads required for shared features.
Operational logs for reliability, abuse prevention, and security response.

4. Backups and attachments

Exported backups are encrypted with your passphrase. If you include attachments during backup, those files are included in the encrypted export package.

You are responsible for keeping your backup passphrase secure.
If you lose your passphrase, we may not be able to recover encrypted backup contents.

5. How we use information

Provide core app functions, sync, restore, and account access.
Process subscriptions and restore purchases.
Maintain service security and prevent abuse or fraud.
Respond to support requests and legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Service providers

We use third-party providers to run parts of the service. Depending on your usage, this may include:

Infrastructure and database services (for sync and storage).
Payment and subscription providers (for premium billing and entitlements).
Platform identity providers (for sign-in flows).
Error monitoring and security tooling.

These providers process data under their own terms and only to provide services on our behalf.

7. Website analytics

Our marketing website may use analytics tools (including Google Analytics) to understand page performance and visitor behavior. This can include aggregated usage events such as page views, device/browser type, and referral source.

We use analytics to improve site content, reliability, and conversion flow.
Analytics configuration is controlled by our environment settings and may vary by deployment.
Where required by applicable law, additional consent mechanisms may be applied before analytics collection.

8. Push notifications

Notifications are optional. You can control them in your device settings. Disabling notifications does not block core app usage.

9. Data retention

We retain service data only as long as needed for app functionality, security, legal compliance, and legitimate business operations.

Offline data remains on your device until you remove it.
Cloud data is retained until deleted by users, removed due to account/workspace actions, or required retention windows expire.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we continuously work to improve security controls.

11. Lawful use and legal requests

Sambalo is intended for lawful use only. We may investigate abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with valid legal requests where required by law.

12. Children

Sambalo is not directed to children under 13 (or a higher age where local law requires). If you believe a child provided personal information unlawfully, contact us.

13. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at support@sambalo.com.

14. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use contractual and technical safeguards for cross-border transfers.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with an updated effective date.
